Why Indian Women?

I've chosen to especially engage with this group as I know only too intimately now (after almost four years of immigrating to the US) how challenging it can be to find belonging in a foreign country and culture. It takes time and a lot of effort to consciously integrate into a new society.

Many women don't realize that the choice to move out of the country, inadvertently strips them of all their support systems - family, friends, resources at work, social ties, meaningful social practices and for many, even their financial independence.

Adding any kind of a stressor/crisis to this mix can seriously impacts one's wellbeing.

Additionally, culturally, Indians aren't familiar with the idea of seeking professional help. It is often considered a taboo and is the last resort. Unable to seek professional help and without a personal support system, many Indian women end up becoming especially vulnerable to isolation, stagnation, loneliness and depression.

While this is true for many immigrant women in the US. Given my own Indian origin and cultural orientation, I am most drawn to supporting women from India. Here are a few examples of where coaching can be deeply beneficial.

  • Finding belonging in a foreign country and society.

  • Responding choice-fully in challenging romantic relationships / relational abuse.

  • Dealing with relational conflict in a mindful manner.

  • Breaking up or getting divorced.

  • Early stages of motherhood.

  • Loss of a loved one.

  • Struggles with gender or sexual orientation.
