Cultivating Inner Freedom - A Personal Growth Practice Group from Women

Cultivating Inner Freedom.png

Cultivating Inner Freedom is an ongoing weekly group for women who are deeply invested in their own psychological, emotional and relational growth. The group is facilitated and holds space for women to be in community with other women, be witnessed, held and supported through challenging and celebratory experiences of everyday life and grow together.

The group learns and explores different tools (from the therapy/coaching/spiritual growth worlds) that allow for a curious, open and compassionate connection with self and others. It encourages feelings, needs & values based reflection and conversation (as opposed to judgment based thinking/'shoulding').

The circle creates room for:

  1. Deep personal exploration and personal growth work.

  2. Working through conflict within self and with others.

  3. Learning practices that help folks have more self connection and agency in daily life.

  4. Paired empathy practice outside of group time.

Here  are a few testimonials from current/past participants.

Here are some personal growth tools we have explored in past groups:

1. Self-Empathy - Self-empathy, through presence and attunement with ourselves cuts through mental clutter and puts us in touch with what we need or value the most in this moment. From there, we get to make choices to take better care of ourselves.

2. Shifting limiting beliefs/assumptions: Everything we do is based on some unconscious assumptions about people and situations. These assumptions create the frame from which we think and operate. Sometimes these can also confine our thinking and imagination and limit possibility. Shifting limiting beliefs to more empowering ones involves paying attention to our narratives to uncover our current belief systems and consciously experimenting with new assumptions. For ex: "How would it be if I didn't believe that I am bad at marketing myself?". Practicing the new ways of thinking and being in real life situations is key to the rewiring process.

3. Parts work/Inner voice dialogue for greater inner integration: Sometimes, we mentally feel pulled in opposite directions. Different parts of us long for different things and reconciliation between these seems hard. We feel stuck and torn apart. Giving voice and language to our various inner parts and their desires brings multiple underlying needs into our awareness and helps us find creative strategies to address the needs of multiple parts.

4. Transforming the inner critic – If you've heard yourself think thoughts like- "Dont try! You'll fail!" or "You are just not as smart/lovable/interesting as xyz!!", or "you will never learn abc!" or some such self-critical thoughts, its most likely your inner critic running the show! The inner critic can also sometimes operate silently in the form of resistance to things. It can be harsh and stubborn. Logical explanations like "but I know 5 different languages and I just graduated with honors" don't seem to sooth it. Recognizing and healing any wounding we maybe holding onto from our past  and empathizing with the critics resolve to protect us can help us move around it and integrate its wisdom into our actions.
